Today I lost myself
on a fragrant path.
Warm sunlight
was filtering through
the calm and motionless air.
Between the old-growth trees
and all around me,
glittering dust was playfully dancing.
No sound but the rustling of the leaves
as a lonely bicycle carried its forgotten passenger
to a goal unknown and cherished deeply.
Birds were singing under the horizon,
their nests near and empty but for a promise.
The little creek along the way:
gurgling, splashing, flowing, running with life.
The world was beautiful and benign,
at this moment: all mine.
Among those trees and roots, overgrown with moss,
among those sunlit paths of soft smells
and sparkling water rhapsodies
I found my smile again, once more.
Outside is where my soul belongs,
where my eyes can rest,
my mind is clear,
and all colours are in my heart.
