In the middle of a night
too warm to be healing,
I awoke with a sudden, weak scream.
A pool of darkness ebbed away
as I opened my eyes to greet the queen.
She served me tea, unasked for,
washed my hair with clear spring water
and stuffed flowers into my eyes.
As I drifted off
she planted a moist kiss on my forehead
and took my heart away.
With flowers that nice I wouldn’t need it,
said the sandman.
So I slept soundly
and dreamt of waterfalls.
